Today we celebrate the woman, mother, grandmother, friend and family member we call Judy or “NuNu.” As her first born, I loved her because she was always there for me – my strongest ally, supporter and friend. She would give her last dime to help me or my sister Cyndi or a friend in need. Mom was a big animal lover and rescued at least 4 dogs I know of from the pound, including Hanna our dog growing up and Missy, her beloved Silky Terrier who lives with me now. She loved the cocker spaniels of her youth and she ADORED her grand-dogger BELLA, my black lab. Bella and Missy were the highlights of her later life and brought her so much joy and laughter. Last June 21, Judy’s one and only grandchild was born, Josiah Tynedale Morhaim, to my younger sister Cyndi and her husband Joshua. “Gramma” would light up each time he came to see her and he loved to stare at her glasses or her ceiling fan in her room. He is the happiest baby ever and always smiling. At 74 years young and only 10 months into Josiah’s young life, Mom went to heaven to sail the oceans of her dreams in the Caribbean. Today we celebrate the love she freely gave and her freedom from the pain of this world. All of us who knew Judy are better people because of her. I would especially like to thank all of you on staff at Emeritus Oceanside who for the past 14 months have brought our Judy back to her old self and developed such strong bonds. She was so very happy here and I just cannot say enough about all the care, love and support she received from each one of you. There’s a reason you won the community of the year – Judy voted for you, so keep doing what you do and please know from the bottom of my heart thank you for being with my mom Judy.
